
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported having a “constructive call” with U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio on Friday, focusing on an upcoming bilateral meeting in Saudi Arabia.
“Ukraine seeks an end to the war, and U.S. leadership is crucial for achieving sustainable peace. We also explored avenues to enhance our bilateral cooperation,” Sybiha stated on X.
Steve Witkoff, special envoy for U.S. President Donald Trump, mentioned on Thursday that he was engaged in discussions with Ukraine regarding a framework for a peace agreement aimed at concluding the three-year conflict with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy indicated that there had been extensive communication with U.S. officials throughout the day.
“Today, we have been engaged in intensive discussions with President Trump’s team at various levels—numerous calls have taken place,” Zelenskiy noted in his evening video address.
“The objective is clear: to achieve peace as swiftly as possible and to ensure the most reliable security. Ukraine is dedicated to being as constructive as it can be.”
