Chaos has replaced normalization. The far-right Rassemblement National (RN) party in France has reverted to its most extreme roots, prior to its rebranding and the polished public personas of its representatives on television. Following the ruling delivered on Monday, March 31, against her, Marine Le Pen is reasserting her position and launching an attack on the so-called “system.” This populist spectacle is expected to continue until the summer of 2026, when the appeal ruling is anticipated, as stated by the Paris Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

By leveraging the media, the Assemblée Nationale, and calling out the prime minister while criticizing judges and organizing street protests, Le Pen and her supporters are intensifying pressure on the “system” in hopes of securing a favorable appeal decision next year that would enable her to pursue the presidency for a fourth time. This aggressive strategy also serves to shift focus away from the central issue at hand: the alleged misappropriation of over €4 million in European taxpayer funds for the benefit of her party and associates.
