The Indian Air Force (IAF) acknowledged on Sunday that “losses are a part of combat” but assured that all its pilots had returned home after recent engagements with Pakistan. The statement, which did not provide specific details on potential losses, came in response to questions about whether the IAF had suffered any during the week’s clashes with Pakistani forces.
On Wednesday, a Pakistani military spokesperson told Reuters that five Indian aircraft had been shot down. However, this claim has not been confirmed by Indian authorities.
Also on Wednesday, four government sources in Indian Kashmir reported to Reuters that three fighter jets had crashed in the region. These crashes occurred hours after India claimed to have struck nine Pakistani “terrorist infrastructure” sites across the border.
