Governor Monday Okpebholo has restated his commitment to youth empowerment as a major part of his leadership vision for Edo State. He shared this during a recent engagement with young people in Benin City. The event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and youth leaders.
The governor explained that Edo State’s future depends heavily on its young population. According to him, Governor Okpebholo’s Youth Empowerment Strategy aims to equip young people with the tools they need to succeed. Job creation, entrepreneurship, and training, he emphasized, would be central to his administration’s plans.
Rather than rely on empty promises, he told the crowd, his government intends to drive change through action and collaboration. Investments in education, skill development, and innovation, he added, would be scaled up. He also emphasized that young people must take the lead in transforming the state’s economy.
The youth empowerment plan includes support for small businesses and startups. Okpebholo promised to provide access to funding, mentorship, and technical guidance. In addition, he pledged to partner with private sector players, NGOs, and global development agencies to expand impact.
Unemployment, he acknowledged, is a serious challenge—but not an impossible one. He encouraged the youth to believe in themselves and take advantage of every opportunity. His doors, he assured them, would remain open to ideas, feedback, and collaboration from young minds across the state.
Recognizing the energy and creativity that young people bring to the table, the governor emphasized that Edo cannot grow without their active participation. He called on them to remain focused, avoid distractions, and stay engaged in shaping the state’s future.
At the event, several young participants expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit and his message. Some shared their business ideas and asked for support in scaling up. Others called for better access to digital tools and vocational programs.
Listening attentively to their concerns, Governor Okpebholo responded with practical solutions. He announced that new programs would soon launch to support digital skills training and agribusiness development. Rural areas, he assured them, would not be left behind in these efforts.
His government, he stressed, values fairness, inclusion, and sustainable development. He urged the youth to be partners—not just beneficiaries—of state progress. Leadership, he reminded them, is a shared responsibility in which everyone has a role to play.
With Governor Okpebholo leading the charge, Edo State is clearly on a path to unlocking youth potential. His words matched his actions, and his tone reflected sincerity and purpose. By prioritizing the needs of young people, he is helping build a stronger, more prosperous future for the entire state.
