Abuja, Nigeria – In response to the escalating security crisis in Plateau State, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical police teams to violence-stricken communities, particularly in Bokkos Local Government Area and its environs.
This intervention follows a series of deadly attacks that began on March 28, 2025, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. The IGP dispatched the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, to personally oversee security efforts on the ground.
DIG Kwazhi arrived in Plateau State on April 8, 2025, and met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang to convey condolences on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). He reiterated the police leadership’s commitment to restoring law and order, assuring residents that robust measures are underway.
The deployment includes elite tactical units, Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), aerial drones, helicopters, mobile police forces, and personnel from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS). These assets are expected to strengthen security presence and aid rapid response efforts in conflict zones.

The IGP also directed that a strategic and multi-dimensional approach be adopted—combining intelligence-driven policing, proactive patrols, and community engagement—to not only quell the violence but also prevent future outbreaks.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police are collaborating closely with the Plateau State Government, local communities, and sister agencies to address the underlying causes of the unrest and foster sustainable peace.
Residents are urged to support law enforcement by sharing credible intelligence that could aid ongoing investigations. The NPF reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property across Plateau State.
