The local prosecutor’s office reported that a 19-year-old man was shot dead in Brussels on Saturday night, as drug gang violence in the Belgian capital continues to escalate.
According to officials, Belgium is home to over 100 of Europe’s most dangerous criminal networks, and the city has seen a number of shootings connected to drug gangs in recent years.

The shooting took place in the Anderlecht neighborhood of Brussels, the prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. The suspects fled in a car, and police were searching for them.
The statement went on to say, “Our preliminary investigations lead us to believe that the incident occurred in the context of a settling of scores within the milieu of drugs trafficking.”
Following another deadly shooting in Anderlecht this month, Saturday night’s murder occurred. In February, a separate shooting incident in Brussels led to the temporary closure of numerous metro stations in the capital.
