Kashifu Inuwa, the Director-General of NITDA, is implementing a transformative strategy that is redefining Nigeria’s technology sector and generating significant employment opportunities. His recent initiative—the nationwide rollout of the Hub Managers training program—is designed to empower startups, enhance local innovation, and create 7,400 new jobs by year-end.
During the iHatch Cohort 4 Onsite Training for Hub Managers, which was organized in partnership with JICA and ONDI, Inuwa emphasized the importance of extending innovation beyond Lagos and Abuja. This initiative aims to deliver technological solutions to grassroots entrepreneurs, making a tangible difference in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and commerce.
The results speak for themselves. The pilot phase of iHatch successfully trained 50 startups, leading to the creation of 179 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs. With the program now expanding to all 37 states, it is poised to revitalize local economies by providing tech hubs with advanced tools and global best practices.
