Kazakhstan is planning to engage with Ukraine to prevent a recurrence of the recent drone strike that targeted a pumping station of the primary Kazakh oil export pipeline in southern Russia, as reported by an official on Wednesday.
The incident, which affected the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), occurred on Monday, just before discussions between U.S. and Russian representatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak indicated on Tuesday that oil transportation through the CPC had decreased by approximately 30-40% due to the damage, with repairs potentially taking several months.
“We will reach out to the Ukrainian side,” stated First Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin, according to the Kazakh news outlet Informburo.

“There will certainly be discussions either here or in Kyiv. It is essential that we address these matters diplomatically to prevent similar incidents in the future,” Rakhmetullin added.
