France will allocate an additional 2 billion euros (approximately $2.15 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine, as announced by President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday. He accused Russia of distorting and altering the terms of recent limited ceasefire agreements.
“I am pleased to announce today an extra 2 billion euros in military support for Ukraine,” Macron stated during a joint appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Paris.
He specified that the new military supplies for Kyiv would include anti-tank missiles, surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles, and drones, along with additional Mirage fighter jets.
The two leaders spoke ahead of a summit on Thursday, which will gather around 30 leaders to discuss enhancing support for Ukraine, addressing the limited ceasefires, and exploring a future European role in deterring Russian aggression once a negotiated settlement is reached.
“Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire without any conditions. We expect Russia to demonstrate the same level of commitment,” Macron remarked, emphasizing that it is premature to lift European sanctions against Russia.

“I observe that Russia is attempting to rewrite and reinterpret the agreements made by introducing new conditions. Rather than demonstrating a desire for peace, Russia continues to launch intensive strikes on Ukrainian territory every day.”
