
In early March, we had the opportunity to speak with Michel Gaubert between two fashion shows. After the performance by the Japanese brand Sacai, Gaubert remarked, “The music was fantastic, wasn’t it?” He had personally curated the playlist, starting with “Your Love” by Frankie Knuckles, one of his all-time favorite artists. He was preparing to head to the Grand Palais for a rehearsal of the Chanel show, where he had chosen a piece from the soundtrack of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023), followed by one of his signature eclectic mixes featuring Daphni (the alias of Canadian electronic composer Caribou), the British band Faithless, Detroit techno DJ Derrick May, and the captivating dance tracks of the German group Sash!.

For the autumn-winter 2025-2026 Paris Fashion Week, he took on the role of sound illustrator—a title he prefers—working with six fashion houses. In addition to Sacai and Chanel, he collaborated with Vaquera, Dior, Nina Ricci, and Victoria Beckham. On March 15, he oversaw a show in Courchevel, Savoie, for Moncler, where he directed the symphony orchestra that accompanied the models. His next project is a Dior show in Kyoto, set for April 15.
