The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is taking a major step toward clean energy in Africa. NASENI leads Africa’s renewable energy journey by building one of the continent’s largest renewable energy parks in Nigeria.
At a press briefing, the Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The agency is working to create jobs, expand local manufacturing, and reduce reliance on imported technologies. Halilu stated that the park will be located in Gombe State and will attract both local and international investors.
This renewable energy park will feature solar panel production, lithium battery assembly, and electric vehicle components. It is designed to promote innovation and reduce Nigeria’s carbon footprint. According to Halilu, the project is already generating interest from global partners, and NASENI is prepared to collaborate with them to speed up development.
NASENI leads Africa’s renewable energy revolution by focusing on practical solutions that match Nigeria’s current needs. Halilu explained that the park will not only produce energy but also support local engineering talents. He added that the agency wants to ensure that Nigerians lead the future of green technology.
The Gombe-based energy park will boost local capacity and provide jobs to thousands of skilled workers. It will serve as a training ground for technicians, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Halilu said that knowledge sharing is just as important as power generation, and NASENI is committed to both.
In addition to the renewable park, NASENI is implementing projects in rural electrification, industrial automation, and smart agriculture. The agency is proving that science and technology can solve Nigeria’s most pressing development challenges. It continues to partner with state governments, research institutions, and international bodies to scale these initiatives.
Halilu stressed that energy security is key to economic growth. He said the Gombe energy park will ensure that Nigeria keeps pace with global clean energy trends. Local industries will benefit from cheaper, sustainable power, and this will make them more competitive.
NASENI has been consistent in its mission to localize technology and drive industrialization. It has rolled out programs across sectors, from transportation and housing to food processing and education. The renewable energy park is one of many strategic efforts that reflect its new direction under Halilu’s leadership.
Nigerians are being encouraged to support the agency’s vision and engage with its innovations. Halilu believes that if the people embrace clean energy, the nation will reduce energy poverty and boost productivity.
This energy park is not just an infrastructure project. It is a symbol of Nigeria’s readiness to lead Africa into a future driven by sustainable power and advanced technology. With strong leadership and smart investments, NASENI is changing the story of energy in Africa.
