The foreign ministers from Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Britain, and Poland, together with the European Union’s chief diplomat and Defence Commissioner, announced on Monday their willingness to implement new sanctions against Russia in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In a joint statement released following their meeting in Madrid, they expressed, “We are prepared to increase pressure on Russia through all available means, including the introduction of new sanctions, to undermine its capacity to continue its aggressive actions and to ensure that Ukraine is optimally positioned to achieve a fair and enduring peace.”
