The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that Nigerian pilgrims will begin their return from Saudi Arabia on June 9, officially concluding the 2025 Hajj season.
In a statement released during Eid al-Adha, NAHCON Chairman Professor Abdullahi Saleh confirmed that the return journey would start on the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to June 9. The first return flights will transport pilgrims from various states—Imo (via Air Peace), Bauchi (via Max Air), and Kebbi and Sokoto (via Flynas).
This year, over 70,000 Nigerian Muslims undertook the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca, which is a fundamental pillar of Islam. Reflecting on the significance of Hajj, Saleh urged Muslims to embrace the values of faith, sacrifice, and obedience exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He also commended the discipline of Nigerian pilgrims, attributing their cooperation to the smooth execution of Hajj operations. Additionally, Saleh expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their support in ensuring logistical and diplomatic arrangements with Saudi authorities.
NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to continually enhancing services for future pilgrims, recognizing the efforts of its staff and State Pilgrims Welfare Boards. Nigeria, one of the largest contributors to the annual Hajj, once again marked a successful participation in 2025.
