The Tinubu/Shettima 619 Coalition Groups, a political organization, issued a statement praising General Musa’s “proactive leadership” and “operational effectiveness” in the region. The group highlighted his strategic direction and dedication to national security under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“General Musa’s performance as Chief of Defence Staff has been nothing short of exemplary,” the statement noted, citing his “calm yet firm command approach, intelligence-driven tactics, and boots-on-ground engagements” as key factors in improving security.
The North-West region of Nigeria has been grappling with a surge in violence in recent years, with armed groups carrying out attacks on villages, kidnapping for ransom, and engaging in other criminal activities. The Nigerian military has been deployed to the region to combat these groups, but progress has been slow.
The coalition also acknowledged the contributions of President Tinubu and National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, but emphasized that General Musa’s leadership has directly impacted military coordination and response across the region, boosting public confidence and stakeholder trust.
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF), a prominent group of elders from the region, recently expressed confidence in the country’s security situation, a validation that the coalition highlighted as reflecting genuine progress.
The statement also praised President Tinubu for providing a supportive environment that empowers military leaders to act decisively, while crediting the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, for ensuring coordinated intelligence efforts.
The commendation for General Musa comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with a range of security challenges across the country, including the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, communal violence in the Middle Belt, and piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. The government has been under pressure to improve the security situation and restore stability to affected regions.
The coalition called on Nigerians to continue supporting the security agencies and remain hopeful about the ongoing transformation of the country’s defence and security apparatus.
