Norwegian authorities announced on Monday that they are probing a break-in at an abandoned electricity transformer station near Oslo, where an oil spill was identified on Sunday.
Statnett, the national power grid operator, reported that approximately 50 to 60 tonnes of oil had leaked from a transformer, which is suspected to have resulted from an act of sabotage.
In a statement sent via email, the police indicated that they have initiated an investigation into the break-in but noted that they currently lack concrete evidence linking the oil spill to sabotage.
“The police are in the early stages of the investigation and are focused on collecting information regarding the break-in and the events leading to the leak,” they stated.
