Those in this circumstance are free to depart the country without incurring any penalties between February 9, 2025, and May.
It’s unclear yet, though, if they will be permitted to change their status and remain.
According to the Ministry of Interior, those who have violated Qatar’s immigration regulations, including those who have overstayed their visas, are eligible for the amnesty.
According to Migrant-Rights Org, those who wish to depart can do so via Hamad International Airport.
To finish the exit procedure, they can also go to the Salwa Road Search and Follow-up Department.
In recent years, a lot of people have relocated to Qatar in search of employment, particularly since the country’s introduction of the Hayya visa for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Nevertheless, some people ended up working without the required permits, frequently as a result of paying recruiters hefty sums of money who failed to deliver actual jobs.
Sectors like hospitality, retail, and construction have slowed down, but recruitment agencies still bring in workers, leaving many in a difficult situation.
In Qatar, amnesty was last granted from October 2021 to April 2022.
Workers had the option to pay half of their outstanding penalties or apply for a new visa during that time.
At that time, over 28,000 people applied; some were sent home, while others were allowed to stay. However, participation was prohibited for employees who had been reported missing by their employers.
The number of workers who will apply for amnesty this time is uncertain.
