Vimont contrasts Trump with Vladimir Putin, who aims to dismantle the existing world order but doesn’t seem interested in rebuilding it. He also distinguishes Putin from Xi Jinping’s China, which seeks to reform the international order to align with its national interests. Vimont notes that both Beijing and Moscow share the rhetoric of many Global South countries who feel their interests have been ignored by the West and are demanding reforms of international institutions.
