President Bola Tinubu has requested the Nigerian Senate’s approval for a new external borrowing plan of approximately $21.5 billion as part of the 2025-2026 borrowing plan.
In addition to the $21.5 billion, the President is also seeking the Senate’s approval for a loan request of 15 billion Japanese Yen and a grant of 51 million Euros.
President Tinubu’s request was formally communicated in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during a plenary session on Tuesday.
