British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated on Monday that the Group of Seven (G7) nations must be prepared to assume greater risks concerning sanctions imposed on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
“I believe the G7 should be willing to take on additional risks, particularly regarding the oil price cap, imposing sanctions on Russia’s major oil companies, and targeting the banks that facilitate sanction evasion,” Starmer remarked during a video address at an international meeting commemorating the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion.
Additionally, Starmer indicated that the UK would unveil its most extensive sanctions package against Russia since the conflict began, which will include further actions against vessels aiding in sanction evasion and targeting firms in China and other countries that provide military supplies.
The government has yet to release comprehensive details about the sanctions.
Earlier, the UK announced a ban on entry for individuals who significantly support or derive their wealth from the Russian government.
