A support group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), BTO4PBAT, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in the 2027 general elections, arguing that continuity would give the administration more time to consolidate its reform agenda and translate ongoing policies into broader benefits for Nigerians.
The group’s position followed consultations among its leaders, coordinators and supporters as political activities increasingly gather momentum ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. However, while BTO4PBAT has presented continuity as central to its argument, it also acknowledged that the final decision rests with Nigerian voters.
Group Makes Case for Continuity
According to BTO4PBAT, major structural reforms require consistency and sustained implementation before their full effects can become visible.
The group’s Director General, Adesuyi Adojutelegan, said the administration should not be assessed only through the immediate difficulties confronting households. Instead, he argued that Nigerians should also consider the longer-term objectives of the government’s economic and institutional reforms.
The group identified economic restructuring, fiscal reforms, infrastructure development, investment attraction and institutional modernisation among the areas it believes require continued attention.
Consequently, BTO4PBAT argues that changing direction before these initiatives mature could make it more difficult to measure their long-term impact.
At the same time, the group acknowledged that some government policies have created difficult adjustments for citizens, particularly around living costs, employment, household welfare and economic security.
Economic Reforms at the Centre of the Argument
Economic reform remains one of the main pillars of BTO4PBAT’s case for continuity.
The Tinubu administration has pursued major policy changes since taking office, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and reforms to the foreign exchange system. These measures have generated significant debate because, while supporters describe them as necessary structural changes, Nigerians have also experienced substantial economic pressures during the adjustment period.
BTO4PBAT maintains that such reforms should be assessed against their intended objectives and measurable outcomes rather than only their immediate consequences.
Moreover, the group says a second term would provide an opportunity to strengthen areas where implementation has been difficult and ensure that reforms translate into improvements in living standards.
That distinction is important because economic reform ultimately faces a practical test: whether changes in government policy produce tangible improvements in employment, household welfare, investment and economic stability.
From Reform to Visible Benefits
BTO4PBAT says the next phase of the administration should focus increasingly on converting policy changes into results that citizens can see and feel.
The group identified employment opportunities, economic stability, infrastructure, social welfare and improved public services as areas where Nigerians would expect clearer outcomes.
In its view, continuity would provide an opportunity to complete projects already underway while addressing weaknesses exposed during the first phase of implementation.
However, continuity alone cannot guarantee better outcomes. It would still require effective implementation, accountability, efficient use of public resources and measurable improvements in citizens’ welfare.
Therefore, the group’s call for continuity is closely connected to its expectation that the government should demonstrate stronger results in the years ahead.
Grassroots Mobilisation Takes Centre Stage
Beyond its political argument, BTO4PBAT says it plans to intensify grassroots engagement ahead of the election.
The organisation has outlined community meetings, town-hall consultations, political sensitisation and voter education as part of its mobilisation strategy.
It also plans to encourage greater participation by young people and women while using traditional and digital communication channels to engage communities.
This approach reflects the increasingly organised nature of Nigeria’s 2027 political environment, where support groups and political networks are seeking to establish structures beyond major party gatherings.
Consequently, the group’s current mobilisation is not limited to public declarations. It is also focused on building local networks capable of communicating its political message directly to voters.
Political Engagement Without Hostility
Importantly, BTO4PBAT has called for issue-based political engagement ahead of the election.
The group said supporters should be prepared to explain the administration’s record while acknowledging legitimate concerns raised by citizens.
It also urged political actors to avoid hostility, personal attacks, division and inflammatory rhetoric.
Instead, it wants the 2027 political conversation to focus on policies, performance, development priorities and competing visions for Nigeria’s future.
Such an approach could become increasingly important as campaigns intensify, particularly because voters will have competing claims from different parties, candidates and support organisations to consider.
The group has therefore positioned its mobilisation around peaceful democratic participation and respect for citizens’ right to hold different political opinions.
Inspiration From Tunji-Ojo
BTO4PBAT has also linked its organisational philosophy to the leadership example of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whose initials form part of the group’s identity.
The support group said it draws inspiration from what it describes as Tunji-Ojo’s emphasis on public service, institutional modernisation, accountability and measurable results.
The connection has featured in the group’s organisational activities, particularly as it develops grassroots structures and seeks to communicate its political message ahead of the 2027 elections.
Nevertheless, its political support for Tinubu remains its central objective as it prepares for the electoral contest.
The Voter Remains the Final Decision-Maker
Despite its confidence in Tinubu’s prospects, BTO4PBAT has acknowledged that the final decision belongs to the electorate.
That recognition is significant because the group’s prediction represents the position of a political support organisation rather than an established election outcome.
The 2027 contest will ultimately depend on voters and the broader electoral process, with competing parties and candidates expected to present their own arguments on the economy, security, infrastructure, employment and governance.
For BTO4PBAT, however, the argument is already clear: it believes the reforms undertaken since 2023 require continuity, consolidation and additional time to produce their intended results.
From Political Confidence to a Test of Performance
As preparations for 2027 continue, the group faces the task of converting its confidence into sustained grassroots engagement.
Its challenge will be to explain the administration’s record, respond to citizens’ concerns and demonstrate why continuity should matter to voters.
Ultimately, BTO4PBAT’s argument is that Nigeria should judge the Tinubu administration not only by the difficulties created by reform but also by what those reforms eventually deliver.
Whether that argument resonates with voters will be determined through the democratic process. For now, the group is building its case around continuity, reform and the belief that the next phase of governance should focus on turning major policy changes into visible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
