President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that Akwa Ibom State would deliver the highest number of votes in the South-south geopolitical zone for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Akpabio made the declaration in Uyo during a meeting of critical stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress convened ahead of Governor Umo Eno’s consultation with party leaders on his planned re-election bid.
According to a statement issued by the Senate President’s Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio attributed the anticipated electoral support to Governor Eno’s leadership style and developmental projects across the state.
He described the governor as a peaceful and accommodating leader whose inclusive approach to governance had united stakeholders across party lines.
He said, “The event of today shows that Governor Eno is a peaceful governor, a man of God in words and in deeds.
“His peaceful disposition and ability to carry everybody along has given us the assurance that in the South-south geopolitical zone, Akwa Ibom will deliver the highest number of votes,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President also commended Eno for consulting party stakeholders despite facing no opposition for the party’s governorship ticket, describing the move as a demonstration of humility and political maturity.
He further cited ongoing projects, completion of abandoned initiatives, and the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
Akpabio added that the people of Akwa Ibom remained appreciative of Tinubu’s support for the emergence of an indigene of the state as Senate President and would demonstrate their gratitude at the polls.
