Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to headline a mega political rally organised by the North Central chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The rally is being organised under the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network as part of the region’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
APC Mobilises North Central Stakeholders
The planned gathering follows a high level meeting of APC stakeholders from the North Central region in Abuja.
The meeting brought together the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, governors and deputy governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly and other political office holders.
According to APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, the stakeholders agreed to mobilise their respective political structures and supporters for the Lafia rally.
The mobilisation is expected to involve party members, women, youth groups, grassroots organisations and supporters from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Lafia Rally Targets Grassroots Mobilisation
The North Central region comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory.
Consequently, the Lafia gathering is being positioned as a regional mobilisation event bringing together political structures from across the zone.
Yilwatda described the planned gathering as the “mother of all rallies,” reflecting the scale the organisers expect from the event.
However, that description represents the APC chairman’s characterisation of the rally rather than an independent assessment of its size or political impact.
Remi Tinubu Set to Headline Event
The participation of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has become one of the central features of the planned rally.
According to APC stakeholders, she will serve as the headline guest at the event, which is expected to attract party leaders and grassroots supporters.
Her participation also places women and youth mobilisation among the important elements of the gathering as the APC continues its preparations for the 2027 election cycle.
Governors and Political Leaders Back Mobilisation
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule is expected to host the rally, while political leaders from across the North Central have pledged to support the mobilisation.
The stakeholders have also commended George Akume for his role in bringing political leaders from the region together and coordinating preparations for the event.
Moreover, the involvement of governors, ministers and legislators gives the rally a broad political structure extending beyond individual party chapters.
Medical Outreach and Grassroots Engagement
The political mobilisation is also being accompanied by plans for community based activities.
The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network has announced plans for medical outreaches in parts of the region, including health interventions targeting vulnerable communities.
The programme is expected to include activities such as eye screening and treatment, provision of spectacles, cataract assessments and selected procedures.
Meanwhile, the network plans to conduct grassroots advocacy tours and town hall meetings across the North Central states and the FCT.
These activities are intended by the organisers to complement the political mobilisation with direct community engagement.
Reconciliation Committee Planned
Beyond mobilisation, APC stakeholders have also discussed efforts to address internal grievances within the party.
The party leadership said a reconciliation committee would be established to engage stakeholders across the region and address disagreements arising from previous party primaries and congresses.
Such a process could provide an avenue for party leaders to manage internal disputes as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
At the same time, stronger coordination among party structures remains an important part of the APC’s preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle.
Political Activity Builds Ahead of 2027
The Lafia rally comes as political parties and support networks across Nigeria increasingly organise their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
For the APC, the North Central represents an important political region, and the planned gathering provides an opportunity for its stakeholders to publicly demonstrate their organisational coordination.
The rally, however, remains a party mobilisation event. Its occurrence does not by itself establish how voters across the region will ultimately vote in 2027.
Looking Ahead to October 10
With governors, lawmakers, ministers, party leaders, women, youths and grassroots organisations expected to participate, the Lafia rally is set to become a major APC gathering in the North Central political calendar.
Oluremi Tinubu’s expected role as headline guest will add further prominence to the event, while the participation of political leaders from across the region will place emphasis on grassroots organisation and party coordination.
Ultimately, the October 10 gathering will provide the APC with an opportunity to showcase its North Central political structures and communicate its message to supporters as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
